Pharter: Breaking Overseas Monopoly on LTCC, Forging the "Chinese Chip" for 5G Communications

——Jiangsu Pharter Communication Co., Ltd. Exclusive Interview with Huai'an District TV Station:

The Breakthrough Journey of Domestic Core RF Devices

In the era of rapid development of 5G and Internet of Things industries, the performance improvement and signal stability of communication equipment rely on tiny yet critical core components. Among them, Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) filters act as the "precision blood vessels" of communication systems, undertaking the core functions of signal filtering and frequency transmission, which directly determine the communication quality and sensitivity of terminal equipment.

Stories of Transformation and Upgrading of Huai'an Enterprises Pharter: Breaking Overseas Monopoly on LTCC, Forging the "Chinese Chip" for 5G Communications

For a long time, this high-tech barrier field has been monopolized by enterprises from Japan and Taiwan region of China, becoming a bottleneck restricting the independent control of China's 5G industrial chain. Recently, Jiangsu Pharter Communication Co., Ltd. was invited for an exclusive interview with the column Stories of Transformation and Upgrading of Huai'an Enterprises by Huai'an District TV Station, sharing its journey of deep development in Huai'an, tackling key technical problems and breaking overseas monopolies, forging the "Chinese Chip" for 5G communications through hardcore innovation.

Founded in June 2020, Jiangsu Pharter Communication Co., Ltd. is a core subsidiary of Pharter Technology, established by Dr. Wang Hongyang, Dr. Qian Kewei from Xidian University and other overseas returnee experts in radio frequency and ceramic materials. The founding team has decades of in-depth experience in the radio frequency communication industry. Dr. Wang Hongyang, Chairman of the company, once served as a distinguished radio frequency expert for vivo and founded a leading domestic mobile phone antenna design company, with a profound understanding of the industrial value of LTCC technology and the urgent demand for domestic substitution.

In 2020, the company settled in the Economic Development Zone of Huai'an District, Huai'an City, and built the largest LTCC radio frequency filter R&D and production base in China. Covering an area of over 10,000 square meters, the base has a monthly production capacity of 300 million units, five times the total capacity of similar domestic enterprises. From technology research and development in Shenzhen to industrialization in Huai'an, Pharter has completed a full-chain layout of "R&D + production" relying on the favorable business environment and industrial policy support of Huai'an District, achieving a leap from technological breakthroughs to large-scale mass production in just a few years.
Due to its complex design and extremely high process precision requirements, the high-end market of LTCC filters has long been dominated by overseas enterprises. In the 5G era, the demand for filters in mobile terminals has surged from 2 units per device in the 4G era to 20 units, highlighting the growing urgency of domestic substitution. Pharter has set up a core R&D team led by doctors and masters, with a cumulative R&D investment of over 100 million yuan, focusing on three core areas: material systems, circuit design and precision manufacturing.
After thousands of experiments and process optimizations, the company has successfully conquered key technical difficulties such as high dielectric constant material formulations, ultra-small size lamination, and high-precision printing and sintering. It has developed a series of 5G LTCC radio frequency filters featuring ultra-thin profile, ultra-small size, high Q-factor and low insertion loss.
With performance reaching the world's top level, Pharter has become the only enterprise in China capable of mass-producing ultra-small size LTCC filters. It has also obtained certifications from four world-leading platforms: MTK, RealTek, Qualcomm and Intel, marking the first time a domestic radio frequency component manufacturer has entered the mainstream international communication supply chain. At present, its products are mass-applied in terminals of well-known brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi and BYD, completely breaking the long-term monopoly of overseas enterprises in the mid-to-high-end LTCC filter market.
With its cutting-edge technology and outstanding production capacity, Pharter has been awarded a number of qualifications and honors, including National High-Tech Enterprise, Jiangsu Provincial Specialized, Sophisticated, Unique and New Small and Medium-sized Enterprise, Provincial Intelligent Workshop, National Green Factory, and Jiangsu Provincial Industrial Technology Engineering Center. It undertakes key provincial R&D projects such as "Key Technology Research and Development of Multi-Antenna Anti-Interference LTCC Filters for 5G Mobile Terminals", becoming a benchmark enterprise and innovation engine of Huai'an's electronic information industry.

Since taking root in Huai'an, the company has not only achieved rapid self-development, but also driven the coordinated upgrading of the regional industrial chain and attracted the agglomeration of upstream and downstream supporting enterprises. Meanwhile, adhering to talent-driven development, Pharter has built an R&D team of more than 20 members with master's and doctoral degrees, created over 100 local jobs, and cultivated industrial talents through a "skill competition + career promotion" system, injecting strong impetus into the high-quality development of Huai'an's electronic information industry.

In the exclusive interview, Chairman Wang Hongyang of Pharter stated: "LTCC is a core basic component for 5G, Internet of Things and satellite communications. Domestic substitution is not only a market demand, but also an industrial mission. In the future, Pharter will continue to take root in Huai'an, deepen technological innovation,  continuously expand production capacity, optimize its product portfolio, and expand high-end application scenarios such as 6G, automotive-grade and industrial-grade products. We will fully promote the full independent control of China's core radio frequency devices, and contribute 'Pharter's Strength' to the development of the digital economy and the security of the communication industry."
From technological breakthroughs to industrial leadership, from starting in Shenzhen to deep cultivation in Huai'an, Jiangsu Pharter has broken overseas monopolies and forged the communication "Chinese Chip" with persistent innovation like "sharpening a sword in ten years", becoming a vivid model of transformation and upgrading for Huai'an enterprises. In the future, the company will continue to take scientific and technological innovation as its wings, stand at the forefront of the wave of domestic substitution, and write a new chapter of independent innovation for China's high-tech enterprises.
